You experience moments of inner peace. And yet you keep losing that sense of peace in your daily life.
You experience moments of inner peace. And yet you keep losing that sense of peace in your daily life.
You try to stay calm, but something happens during the conversation and you end up reacting differently than you intended.
Later, the conversation comes back to your mind.
What you should have said. What you actually wanted to do.
Your attention returns to your thoughts.
Even though the moment itself is long gone.
I recognized this in my own life as well.
I could experience silence and peace, but I noticed how quickly they vanished as soon as something didn’t go the way I wanted it to.
Like when my internet wasn’t working, or when my KLM work schedule wasn’t to my liking.
It frustrated me that I couldn’t experience that silence and peace on a lasting basis.
I thought I just needed to learn how to meditate even better.
I went on a 6-month retreat with my Ishaya teacher in Mexico, where I meditated for between 10 and 15 hours every day.
It was there that I first realized I could experience happiness, joy, and peace, regardless of the circumstances.
Now I experience a foundation of inner peace.
Sometimes I feel stressed, emotional, or frustrated about something, but no matter what happens in my life, it’s as if I always fall back onto a soft mattress.
